The way Princess Principal or (PP), for short, sets up its missions is horrendous. Why do they have 0 reaction towards this? I know this is hardly important but they also have no tables so playing Poker or whatever card game it is must be very uncomfortable. Why am I humoring this so much? The guards are completely unphased that the Japanese girl is taking away their cards and the maid is placing cards in their hands. It’s certainly not about speed because Chise isn’t exactly rushing to take these cards. Maybe she’s testing Charlotte in some bizarre way. She picks up an ace of diamonds along with a six of spades. Maybe a different combination for a specific reason? It doesn’t seem like it. And the cards we do see aren’t cards necessary for a royal flush. It’s not like Chise is trying to pick up a royal flush or something because we can barely see what cards she is picking up. I don’t know if this is some kind of amalgamation of Poker and whatever the fuck but, as far as I know, they are just flipping cards around. So, Chise’s doing this thing and Charlotte is taking the cards away from her and putting it in the hands of another soldier. And for some reason, literally all of them were playing Poker. In case 7 we had this scene where Chise was nonchalantly taking cards out the soldiers’ hands. Case 7, for example, (and yes, I am doing this by cases instead of episodes to fuck with you). The weirdest thing about Princess Principal, first off, is that it has these moments that make no sense. You know spies are cool and why they are cool. I think by this point i’m supposed to give you a long explanation about why spies are cool. But we all know how this works and how this will play out. I feel like I could just say… “Take off the wig” and my argument stands tall and firm.
